Julian Omidi recently refocused his main energy on philanthropic activities and providing aid to the less fortunate. Earlier this year, he and his brother Michael Omidi, MD founded the charity No More Poverty. The organization seeks to end poverty at home and abroad by supporting the efforts of like-minded charities and agencies. Current efforts are focused on increasing awareness of and donations to charities already doing great work to address poverty and its staggering effects throughout the world.

I feel a real sense of duty to help people that lack advantage and opportunities in their lives, especially those struggling to lift themselves from the depths of extreme poverty.  I feel a special connection with all of the charities we have supported so far.

The youth served by the creative arts program Create Now come from backgrounds fraught with violence, substance abuse, and neglect and are in desperate need of the services provided by this wonderful program.

In recent years, so many people and families in the US have fallen on hard times during this historic economic downturn.  Supporting Martha’s Kitchen and their mission to “feed the hungry with dignity and no questions asked” was an obvious choice in this time of extraordinary need.  A hot meal served by a friendly face can make a huge difference to those dealing with the harsh realities of trying to regain lost jobs and homes.

Of course the effects of poverty know no bounds and millions within the global community struggle as well.  No More Poverty also supports several charities with international operations.  Drop in the Bucket, helps improve water and sanitation systems in Uganda and South Sudan. Clean, safe water is a very basic human need and the numbers of lives saved through this work is astonishing.  Quality medical care is also hugely important which is why we also support the International Surgical Mission Support, a non-profit organization of doctors, nurses, and other health professionals who provide free medical care and surgeries for the needy around the world.

As the effects of extreme poverty continue to plague children, adults, and families everywhere, taking action becomes increasingly imperative. That is why my brother Michael and I have chosen to step-up our efforts and be part of the solution through our charity, No More Poverty.  I hope that you too can connect on a personal level with these charities and  support their noble, life-changing efforts.
